A bit of history
The connection between Heuer and Porsche 911 is part of motorsport DNA. In the 1950s, 60s and 70s, a dashboard wasn't complete without professional timing equipment. This holder allows you to bring that heritage back to your cockpit by mounting a vintage Heuer stopwatch or clock directly in the old clock opening.
In 1958, Jack Heuer introduced a new line of dashboard instruments that would soon become the gold standard for rally drivers worldwide. Names like Monte-Carlo, Master-Time, and Auto-Rallye weren't just product names - they were essential tools for navigators.
Today, these instruments are more than just timers - they are mechanical icons of the air-cooled era. Our holder bridges the gap, allowing you to mount these historic pieces back in their natural habitat without permanent modifications. It’s a clean, functional way to bring that authentic rally soul to your 911’s interior.

Installation
The installation is straightforward and fully reversible:
- Remove the factory clock from the dashboard.
- Disconnect and insulate the electrical wires to prevent any shorts.
- Transfer the original rubber gasket from your old clock onto the new holder.
- Mount your Heuer instrument into the holder.
- Press the assembly back into the clock opening.
Smilodone by Paweł Kalinowski
Smilodone is a separate initiative through which Paweł Kalinowski, the founder of CarBone, collects & sells some of vintage Heuer instruments and creates related accessories. It all began with a passion for air-cooled Porsche rally cars equipped with Heuer timepieces. That passion led to the creation of the product described here.
